It’s best to bring your own vehicle when you visit. The place is known for being really nice, clean, and pleasant. You can only get in if you have permission. Even though it’s a good place to visit, you can only go to the main dam if you get permission; otherwise, you can just see it from the bridge.
Best time to visit
Although this place is in the Sona Nadi Range, consider planning to explore it when organizing your trip to Jim Corbett National Park. If you are traveling from major cities, it’s not advisable to plan your trip solely for this place, as it is not open to the general public.

What struck me the most was the tranquility of the area. There’s no crowd, no chaos just the soothing sound of water, chirping birds, and the occasional rustle of trees in the wind. It’s the kind of place where you can sit for hours without even realizing how much time has passed. Sunrise and sunset views here are absolutely breathtaking, as the light gently kisses the water and hills.
Though the dam has a power generation capacity of 198 MW, it’s not a typical tourist spot. Entry is restricted, so you’ll need prior permission from the authorities to go beyond the outer zones. This actually works in its favor, as the area remains clean, undisturbed, and naturally preserved.
Perfect for a Quiet Day Out
There are well-marked walking trails where you can take peaceful strolls, and the setting is perfect for a picnic with family or friends. We found a shady spot near the banks and spent a relaxing afternoon just soaking in the serenity.
